For The Republic Jeans – Premium Denim Crafted in the USA

★★★★★4.8· loved by thousands

We built For The Republic jeans to bridge the gap between heritage craftsmanship and modern comfort. Each pair starts with ring-spun American denim woven in North Carolina mills, then gets cut and sewn in our Los Angeles workshop. The straight-leg silhouette sits mid-rise and runs true to size, with just enough stretch to move through your day without losing shape.

We source our denim exclusively from Cone Mills’ White Oak successor facilities in North Carolina, keeping production domestic from fiber to finish. The 12.5-ounce weight sits in the sweet spot – heavy enough to hold structure through repeated wear, light enough to skip the brutal break-in period that vintage-weight selvedge demands.

Sizing & fit guide

Sizing & fit guide

For The Republic jeans run true to standard US sizing with a mid-rise that sits just below the navel. The straight leg maintains a consistent 16-inch opening from size 30 through 36, tapering slightly above the knee to avoid the baggy look of traditional carpenter cuts.

I’ve been through a dozen brands trying to find straight-leg jeans that don’t feel like cardboard or go baggy after one wear. These hit the mark – they’re stiff enough to hold shape but not so rigid I need a week to break them in. The mid-rise actually sits where it’s supposed to, and the leg opening works with boots or sneakers.

I’ll pay extra to support American manufacturing, but only if the product backs it up. These jeans do. The stitching is clean, the hardware feels solid, and the denim has that tight weave you don’t see in cheap imports. After six months of regular wear, they’ve faded naturally without falling apart.

I used to drop $200 on Japanese selvedge until I tried For The Republic. The quality is right there – same attention to detail, same durable construction – but at half the price. The stretch makes them way more practical for everyday wear than my old rigid pairs.

The fit is pretty true to size, but if you’re between measurements, I’d go with your larger waist number. They do stretch a bit after the first few wears, but not as much as other stretch denim I’ve owned. The fabric quality is excellent – they feel substantial without being heavy.

Most raw or selvedge denim requires weeks of break-in before they’re comfortable. These were ready to wear right out of the bag. The pre-wash treatment saves you the hassle, and the 2% stretch means I can actually move without feeling restricted. I’ve bought three pairs now.

I work in construction and needed jeans that could handle job sites without looking like work pants. For The Republic nailed it – they’re tough enough for manual labor but clean enough to wear out after work. The reinforced stitching has held up to daily abuse, and they still look sharp.

Common questions about For The Republic jeans

Yes, we manufacture every pair in our Los Angeles workshop using denim woven at facilities in North Carolina. The only imported components are the YKK zippers, which come from Japan. All cutting, sewing, finishing, and quality control happens domestically.

We chose to keep production in the US to maintain direct oversight of our construction standards and support American textile workers. It costs more than offshore manufacturing, but the quality control and turnaround time make it worth the investment.

Expect about half an inch of stretch in the waist after the first three to five wears. The elastane content provides enough give to move comfortably, but the tight weave prevents the jeans from bagging out at the knees or seat like high-stretch denim.

The fabric bounces back to its original shape after washing, so you won’t see progressive loosening over time. If you prefer a snug fit that molds to your body, order your true size. If you want a bit more room from day one, size up one waist measurement.

Our straight-leg jeans maintain a consistent 16-inch leg opening from hip to hem, with a mid-rise that sits just below the navel. The slim taper starts with the same mid-rise but narrows from knee to ankle, ending at a 14-inch opening.

The straight fit works better with boots or chunkier sneakers, while the slim taper pairs well with low-profile shoes. Both cuts use the same 12.5-ounce denim and construction methods – the only difference is the leg shape below the knee.

We offer free returns and exchanges within 30 days of purchase. The jeans need to be unworn with tags still attached – we can’t accept returns on items that show signs of wear or washing.

If you’re unsure about sizing, order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit. We’ll email you a prepaid return label once you initiate the return through your order confirmation page. Refunds typically process within five business days of our warehouse receiving the return.

Turn them inside out and machine wash cold with like colors. Skip the fabric softener and use a mild detergent – harsh chemicals accelerate dye loss and break down the elastane fibers.

For minimal fading, wash every 10 to 15 wears and hang dry instead of using the dryer. If you want faster vintage-style fading, wash more frequently in warm water and tumble dry on medium heat. The friction and heat will pull more indigo from high-wear areas like the thighs and seat.

We guarantee our jeans against manufacturing defects for one year from purchase. If a seam fails, a rivet pops, or the zipper breaks under normal wear, we’ll repair or replace the jeans at no charge.

The warranty doesn’t cover damage from accidents, alterations by third-party tailors, or normal wear and tear like fabric thinning or fading. To file a warranty claim, email our customer service team with photos of the defect and your order number. Most claims are processed within 48 hours.

Our standard inseam is 34 inches unhemmed, which gives you flexibility to cuff, stack, or tailor to your preferred length. We intentionally leave the hem raw so you’re not fighting pre-set stitching if you want a custom finish.

If you order through our website, we offer complimentary hemming to any length you specify at checkout. Just add your preferred inseam in the order notes, and we’ll finish the hem before shipping. The service adds two business days to processing time but saves you a trip to the tailor.
